You can make a short link or QR code without an account. Here's what happens to the information you share with us.

Short links and reports

For each short link, we store its code, destination address, creation time, and whether it is active. If you report a short link, we store its code and what you tell us. If you report a destination we refused to shorten, we store that address and your explanation. We also track whether reports have been reviewed. Short links depend on Cup of Links and are not guaranteed to last forever. We may stop or remove links for abuse or operational reasons.

Safety checks

When you make a short link, our server checks its destination and redirects against Google's Web Risk lists of known harmful sites. A checked address may include its path and query string. Our server also visits the destination without your browser cookies. We do not send your IP address to Web Risk. If Google lists an address as harmful, we keep a hash of that address until the result expires. A page we cannot fully check may still be shortened and marked for another check. We keep the destination hostname, failure category, and any HTTP status for failed checks for 30 days to investigate scanner problems and abuse. These checks cannot guarantee a link is safe.

Counts, not visitor profiles

We count daily homepage views, link creations and copies, QR previews and downloads, donation-option views and clicks, and daily opens for each short code. These counts do not include individual visitor records, IP addresses, referral sources, or the addresses inside QR codes. A page view is not a unique person, and automated visits can be counted.

Temporary request data

We use your IP address to limit automated use. When you create a short link, we keep the creator's IP address for 30 days to investigate abuse. If a destination is blocked or its safety check fails after the human check, we keep the requesting IP address, destination hostname, and failure category for 30 days. We do not keep the IP addresses of people who open short links in our database. We use this information to protect the service, not for advertising or sale. Cloudflare may also process request data and operational logs to run and protect the site. A previous version saved recent links in your browser; we no longer add to or show that list. You can remove old browser data in your site settings. Clearing browser data does not delete a short link from our database.

QR codes and donations

QR codes for original addresses are made in your browser. Short links and QR codes that use them depend on this service. Donation buttons, when available, open an outside checkout provider. We do not receive or store your card details.
